Washington, D.C. — Today, American Airlines announced they will begin flight service out of Provo Airport to major hubs starting October 7, 2024, with three daily flights. American will operate two daily flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and one daily flight to Phoenix (PHX). The airline joins Allegiant Air who flies to seven destinations. Following the announcement, former mayor of Provo, Representative John Curtis (R-UT), expressed his satisfaction at the development. "One of the most exciting things I did as mayor was bring scheduled service to Provo Airport, and it's been incredible to see it flourish. In Congress, I've kept that momentum going by securing funds for the airport's expansion, enabling Utahns to travel across the country," said Rep. Curtis. "I'm thankful for American Airlines' recognition of our infrastructure achievements with its new service and my gratitude extends to everyone involved in this success."

Nate Gatten, Executive Vice President at American Airlines, also highlighted the significance of this new service, stating, “American Airlines is proud to offer service for the first time to Provo, connecting residents year-round to our expansive network. With local connectivity to major metropolitan areas, residents will be able to unlock our vast domestic and global networks to discover new destinations and enjoy all that the American network has to offer.”

The initiative to bring American Airlines to Provo was a result of Curtis' dedication to the city's development. Recently in Congress, Curtis secured funding to help expand the airport at the request of Provo City. As mayor, Curtis completed the Lakeview Parkway, creating direct access to the airport from the city. He also oversaw the completion of a new radar system that eventually allowed for the first commercial service to start at the airport in 2011.
