Today, the House of Representatives passed the FY25 Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act. This legislation includes two amendments authored by Representative John Curtis from Utah. One amendment prohibits the Secretary of Defense from allowing the sale of goods in commissary stores or military exchanges from companies that boycott Israel. The other amendment modernizes reporting requirements on Iranian military capabilities.

Representative Curtis stated, "Supporting our service members, their families, and our allies is paramount to protecting the United States." He emphasized that the bill aligns with Utah's priorities by enhancing defense capabilities, strengthening alliances, and preparing the military for evolving threats. "These amendments reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Israel and ensure we remain vigilant in addressing threats from Iran. I’m pleased to see this bipartisan legislation move forward," Curtis added.

The FY25 NDAA aims to strengthen the military, improve servicemembers' quality of life, and address national security concerns. Key elements include a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers and a 4.5% pay raise for all other service members. The act also highlights Utah's contributions to national defense initiatives.
