Chloe Jang led the Utah Valley University women’s golf team during the second round of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, held at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George on Saturday. Jang shot a 1-over-par 73, moving up three spots to 17th place on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 6-over-par 150 (77-73).
The Utah Valley team finished the day with a score of 12-over-par 300 in round two and remains in sixth place among nine teams, holding a combined score of 22-over-par 610 (310-300). Weber State leads the tournament at 1-over-par 577 (296-281).
Maria Ortiz posted a score of 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 24th place with a two-round total of 10-over-par 154 (79-75). Teammates Rylie Rodriguez and Valentina Zuleta each recorded scores of 4-over-par 76 and are also tied for 24th at the same overall score. Rodriguez’s rounds stand at (78-76), while Zuleta’s are also (78-76). Alyssa Butterfus carded an eight-over-par round of 80, placing her in a tie for 34th with a total score of 13-over-par 157 (77-80).
Competing as individuals, Mia Pace shot a three-over-par round of 75 and is tied for 29th at an overall score of eleven over par (80-75). Pati Uluave finished her round at four over par, sitting in forty-first place with seventeen over par across two rounds (85-76). Jacklyn Gonzalez ended her day with nine over par, tying for fifty-sixth place at twenty-seven over par after two rounds (90-81).
The final round will take place Sunday morning with play beginning at Sunbrook Golf Club via shotgun start at nine o’clock.
