The Utah Valley University women’s golf team will continue its spring season at the Bobcat Desert Classic, scheduled for April 13-15 at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.
The tournament is an important event as it brings together 13 teams for three days of competition and serves as a lead-up to the Western Athletic Conference Championship later this season.
The Bobcat Desert Classic will feature 54 holes of stroke play over three days, with players tackling one round of 18 holes each day. The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time and continues at the same time on Tuesday and Wednesday. The course will be set up as a par-72 layout measuring 6,218 yards.
Utah Valley’s lineup includes Chloe Jang, Maria Ortiz, Pati Uluave, Rylie Rodriguez, and Valentina Zuleta. Alyssa Butterfus will compete as an individual entry. All six golfers are scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time in Monday’s opening round. Live scoring throughout the event will be available through Clippd.
Other teams participating in the field are California Baptist, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State (the host), North Dakota State, Portland State, Seattle U, Utah Tech, Weber State, and Wyoming.
In their most recent outing at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational in St. George earlier this month, Jang tied for ninth place after posting a three-round score of five-over-par 221 while Zuleta tied for sixteenth with nine-over-par 225. The Wolverines finished fourth out of nine teams with an overall score of forty-two-over-par 906.
After competing in Arizona this week, Utah Valley will turn its attention to preparing for the upcoming Western Athletic Conference Championship.
