Utah Valley University’s track and field team opened its outdoor season on March 21 at the Utah Tech Invitational in St. George, achieving eight top-10 program marks and securing ten event victories.

The meet featured standout performances from several athletes. Caren Kipsirat set a new meet record in the women’s steeplechase with a time of 10:21.89, finishing well ahead of her competitors and earning the second-best mark in program history. Grace Degarimore placed third in the women’s shot put with a personal best of 14.71 meters, which also ranks second all-time for Utah Valley, while Reagan Gardner’s second-place finish in the women’s 1500 meters earned her ninth place on the school’s all-time list.

On the men’s side, Sila Kiplagat won the 5000-meter race with a time of 14:06.10, marking the fifth-best outdoor time for Utah Valley. Jayden Fitzgarrald followed closely behind to take second place and secure eighth on the program’s all-time list. Cameron Jacobs claimed first place in the men’s steeplechase at 9:11.59, while Caleb Ream finished third.

Other notable results included Maddie Passmore winning both the triple jump (11.78m) and long jump (5.68m), tying for third all-time in triple jump marks for Utah Valley. Olivia Pixton returned to competition after her mission, taking third in triple jump and second in long jump. In sprints, Kade Thompson and Gavin Stafford finished first and second respectively in the men’s 100-meter dash.

Utah Valley also swept both men’s relay events, with strong showings from their 4×100 meter (41.23) and 4×400 meter (3:17.22) teams. Nick Forsyth made an impressive season debut by placing third overall in javelin with a throw of 64.32 meters.

Looking ahead, Utah Valley will host its only home meet of the season—the UVU Collegiate Invitational—on Thursday, March 26th at their campus facility beginning at 8 a.m., with live results available online.
