Utah Valley University women’s soccer player Lulie MacFarlane has been called up for a second time to the Chile women’s national team. She will participate in training with the team in Chile before heading to Paraguay, where she is scheduled to play two international friendlies against Paraguay on March 4 and March 7 in Ypané.

This marks her second invitation to represent Chile, following her previous participation in international friendlies held in California earlier this year. MacFarlane is a senior forward and midfielder from Vancouver, British Columbia, and is eligible to play for Chile through her mother’s heritage.

“Lu joined the Chile national team last month in their U.S.-based camp in Los Angeles and impressed the technical staff,” said Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay. “She has solidified her full Chilean passport and is eligible per FIFA regulations to participate in matches. We are happy for Lu to have this opportunity. She has worked hard and continues to develop, and I am confident that she will be impactful in these upcoming international matches. Chile is getting a tenacious forward/midfielder that is good off the dribble and can be dangerous in the final third.”

MacFarlane completed her first season at Utah Valley during 2025, appearing in 19 games with two goals and two assists, helping the Wolverines win their fourth consecutive Western Athletic Conference regular-season title. The team also earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament but lost 2-1 in overtime against No. 12 Colorado during the opening round.

Before transferring to Utah Valley, MacFarlane played at UTSA during the 2024 season, making 16 appearances with one goal scored. Her collegiate career began at Memphis in 2023 where she contributed to both regular-season and tournament titles for Memphis as well as reaching the NCAA Sweet 16. Overall, she has appeared in 38 collegiate matches with three goals and two assists.

She will return as a senior for Utah Valley’s upcoming season.
