The Utah Valley University men’s golf team is preparing to compete in the Bandon Dunes Championship, scheduled for March 8-10 at Pacific Dunes Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon. The event, hosted by the University of Idaho, will bring together 15 teams for a three-day tournament featuring 54 holes of stroke play.

The competition will use a format where each team fields five players and counts the four lowest scores per round. Play begins Sunday with an early morning shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. Pacific Time and continues on Monday and Tuesday at the same time.

Participating teams include Air Force, Denver, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Seattle U, Seton Hall, SIUE, Utah Tech, Wofford and Utah Valley.

Pacific Dunes Golf Course serves as the venue for this championship. The course is set up as a par-71 layout measuring about 6,600 yards along the Oregon coast. It is part of Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and is recognized among top public courses in the United States due to its coastal views and challenging design.

Utah Valley’s lineup consists of Paxton Maxwell, Ty Brady, Elliot Bond, Colby Hutchens and Isaiah Ellis. Andrew Hawk will participate as an individual competitor.

In their previous outing at The Watney Invitational in Fresno, California, sophomore Paxton Maxwell tied for seventh place with a score of one-over-par over three rounds. Other team members finished further down the leaderboard: Colby Hutchens tied for 48th; Ty Brady tied for 62nd; JJ Tomsick tied for 67th; and Andrew Hawk tied for 70th. Utah Valley placed 12th out of 14 teams with a combined score of 43-over-par across three rounds.

After competing at Bandon Dunes Championship, Utah Valley plans to take part in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic from March 31 to April 1 at Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa.
