Utah Valley University men’s basketball head coach Todd Phillips announced on June 3 the signing of Modestas Babraitis, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard from Fort Myers, Florida. Babraitis will join the Wolverines for the 2026-27 season.

Babraitis joins Utah Valley after playing professionally in Lithuania’s top basketball leagues, most recently with Jonavos CBet in the Lithuanian Basketball League. The addition comes as the program prepares for its first season in The Big West Conference.

“At 6-foot-4, Modestas gives us great size in the backcourt,” said Phillips. “He’s a skilled guard who can make plays from multiple positions and is a tough defender who has competed at a high level overseas. We believe his experience and maturity will have an immediate impact on winning for our team.”

Born in Fort Myers but having spent much of his career competing in Lithuania, Babraitis developed through the Rytas Vilnius system and represented Lithuania internationally. He appeared in 11 games during the 2025-26 LKL season with Jonavos CBet and previously played several seasons with Rytas Vilnius and Vilniaus Perlas Energija. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while helping Rytas Vilnius II compete in Lithuania’s second division.

Babraitis totaled 746 points, 435 rebounds, and 195 assists over four seasons in Lithuania’s National Basketball League across 85 games and also appeared in nearly fifty contests at Lithuania’s highest professional level. He has represented Lithuania as part of both U18 and U20 National Teams at European championships.
