Hunter Katschke led the Wolverines with two hits and a walk, while Kaden Carpenter and Mason Hamlin each drove in a run. Brady Englett paced the Texans with three hits and three runs batted in.

The loss drops Utah Valley’s record to 15-26 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The team struggled to respond after Tarleton State scored three runs in the second inning. In the third inning, Utah Valley had two runners in scoring position but could not capitalize as Slade McCloud made a key catch for the Texans.

Jacob Heppner started for Utah Valley and pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts. Colton Kennedy followed with three innings of relief and recorded at least five strikeouts for his sixth time this season.

Utah Valley managed its first run in the seventh inning after singles by Katschke and Chipper Beck set up an RBI single from Carpenter. The Texans extended their lead with four runs in their half of the seventh inning, making it an 8-1 game before Hamlin added another run for Utah Valley late.

The series will conclude tomorrow morning at Stephenville. Utah Valley is scheduled to return home next weekend for a series against California Baptist.
