Utah Valley sophomore Lily Riley was named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Pitcher of the Week for the game week ending March 8, according to a league press release issued on Mar. 9.
Riley earned the honor after two strong performances against the Pacific Tigers, where she pitched a total of 16.1 innings, struck out 11 batters, and allowed three earned runs to secure wins in both games. On Sunday, Riley delivered a complete game over 10 innings—the longest outing in Utah Valley University’s Division I history and currently the fifth-longest in the country this season—as the Wolverines defeated Pacific 5-3.
As of Monday, Riley leads all pitchers in the WAC with an earned run average (ERA) of 2.20 and is tied for thirteenth nationally with nine wins. She is just two victories away from entering Utah Valley’s top ten single-season win list.
The Wolverines are set to conclude their Northern California road trip with a matchup against UC Davis later today at 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time, followed by a game against Sacramento State tomorrow at noon Mountain Time. Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with live statistics available at GoUVU.com/stats.
Utah Valley will return home to Orem to begin its home season on March 17 against Weber State.
