Utah Valley baseball will face California Baptist in a three-game Western Athletic Conference series starting May 1 at the UCCU Center, according to an April 29 announcement. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6:05 p.m., Saturday at 3:05 p.m., and Sunday at 12:05 p.m.

The series is important as both teams compete for position in the conference standings. Utah Valley fans can watch the games on ESPN+ or listen on local radio stations 103.9 and 98.3 ESPN The Fan, with live stats available online.

Utah Valley enters the weekend after being swept by Tarleton State. Brody Block led offensively last weekend, going four-for-nine with a three-run home run in Sunday’s game. Mason Hamlin contributed four hits, two runs scored, a home run, and three RBIs over the series. On the mound, Jacob Heppner pitched five innings allowing two earned runs and striking out three batters in his start; Cohen Baack also provided solid relief work.

California Baptist comes into the matchup with a record of 34-11 overall and leads several offensive and pitching categories within the conference. Cole Hansen leads CBU hitters with a .399 average, six home runs, and thirty-five RBIs this season; six Lancers are batting above .300. Pitcher Michael Malki is undefeated this year (9-0) with eighty-eight strikeouts while holding opponents to a .191 average.

In recent meetings between these teams, Utah Valley has won their last two regular-season series against California Baptist—including last year in Orem—highlighted by Colton Kennedy’s seven-inning performance allowing just one run along with strong hitting from DJ Massey and Mason Strong.

Looking ahead, Utah Valley will play at Utah on Tuesday before traveling to Abilene Christian University for another WAC series next weekend.
