Utah Valley University’s softball team secured a 6-4 victory over Weber State at the Beehive Classic in St. George, Utah. The win moves Utah Valley to an 11-6 record for the season, while Weber State falls to 3-15.
Angelique Mann contributed significantly by hitting her second home run of the day in the first inning, giving Utah Valley an early lead. Mann has now recorded hits in eight of her last nine games, with seven being multi-hit performances.

Ella Miller started on the mound for Utah Valley and held Weber State scoreless through five innings. She allowed one earned run and three unearned runs in the sixth before being relieved by Lily Riley, who recorded her first save of the season by retiring all three batters she faced in the seventh inning.
Utah Valley added to its lead with two runs in the second inning. The first came from a sacrifice fly by Moreno, followed by aggressive baserunning that allowed Ry Binne to score and Mann to advance into scoring position after a defensive miscue by Weber State.
Megan Sterzer drove in another run with an infield single during the fifth inning, bringing Emma Haygood home. Moreno’s triple in the sixth gave Utah Valley a 6-0 advantage.
Weber State scored its first run following a leadoff walk and then narrowed the gap when Appolina Maldonado hit a three-run home run after an error extended the inning. However, Riley closed out the game with two strikeouts.
Utah Valley will play again tomorrow against Utah State at 3 p.m. MT as part of day two of the Beehive Classic. The game will be available via stream on WAC International, with live stats provided at GoUVU.com/stats.
