Utah Valley University’s baseball team will travel to face Cal State Bakersfield in a three-game series beginning April 2. The games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday evenings, with the final matchup on Saturday afternoon at Hardt Field.

This series is significant as it features two teams with shared conference history and future rivalry in the Big West. Fans can watch the first two games on ESPN+, while live statistics will be available for all games on gorunners.com.

The Wolverines come into the series after winning against Cal State San Bernardino, where they scored a total of 30 runs over two games. During their recent stretch, Utah Valley’s offense was strong, hitting .376 across four games and tallying nine home runs from several players including Hunter Katschke and Derek Houston. Pitchers Jacob Heppner, George Albrecht, and Bradley Gilbert also contributed notable performances.

Cal State Bakersfield holds a record of 12-16 overall and has recently won series against CSUN and Long Beach State. Their lineup includes five hitters batting above .300, led by Evan Cloyd and Kanoa Morisaki. However, their pitching staff has faced challenges this season with an earned run average above seven.

Several Utah Valley players are among Western Athletic Conference leaders in key statistics as the season reaches its midpoint. Katschke ranks high in home runs and slugging percentage; Kaden Carpenter leads in walks; DJ Massey is second in on-base percentage; Mason Strong is tied for third in stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Utah Valley will return home for a game against BYU before heading out for additional road contests.
