Utah Valley University’s baseball team will play its first-ever game against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent when it visits Stanford for a four-game series starting March 21.
The matchup marks a significant milestone for the Wolverines, who have not previously faced an ACC team. The series begins Saturday at 3:05 p.m. Mountain Time, followed by a doubleheader on Sunday and concluding Monday afternoon.
According to the university, this stretch will see Utah Valley compete in six consecutive games against Power 4 conference teams, with most of those contests taking place away from their home field at UCCU Ballpark. Broadcast coverage for the weekend includes ACC Network Plus and radio streaming via KZSU 90.1 FM, with live statistics available through StatBroadcast on GoUVU.com.
In recent action, Utah Valley played two games against Cincinnati earlier in the week but lost both matchups. Chipper Beck has been performing well offensively, hitting over .340 in his last ten games. Hunter Katschke has hit five of his seven home runs during that same span, while Kaden Carpenter has scored 14 runs and collected 14 hits in his last 32 at-bats.
Pitcher Colton Kennedy is set to start this weekend after recording a season-high eight strikeouts against Cincinnati—just one short of his career best set last year during the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. Kennedy has tallied six or more strikeouts in four out of five starts this season.
Stanford enters the series with a record of 7-12 overall and is currently on a bye week from ACC play. The Cardinal have struggled recently, losing their last two conference series and holding a team earned run average of 6.62 despite hitting 33 home runs so far this season.
After facing Stanford, Utah Valley will return home next weekend to host Cal State San Bernardino before playing Utah on March 31.
