Utah Valley University baseball will host Brigham Young University on April 7 for the first of two matchups this season, with the game scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. Mountain Time.

The game is significant as it marks a local rivalry and gives both teams an opportunity to improve their records, which are currently identical. The second meeting between UVU and BYU is set for May 12 at Larry H. Miller Field.

Tuesday’s contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ and aired on radio stations 103.9 and 98.3 ESPN The Fan, with Jordan Bianucci and Brice Larson providing commentary. Fans can also access live stats through GoUVU.com/stats.

In their previous series, Utah Valley secured a win against Cal State Bakersfield by taking two out of three games, including a decisive 14-4 victory in the opener and a close 5-4 win in the second game. Standout performances included Chipper Beck going five for twelve with two doubles, Kaden Carpenter collecting five hits and three stolen bases, Jacob Heppner pitching five innings with four strikeouts on Saturday, while George Albrecht and Ray Hernandez contributed strong starts earlier in the series.

BYU enters Tuesday’s matchup holding a record of fourteen wins and sixteen losses overall (five wins and seven losses in Big Twelve play), matching Utah Valley’s record. Ezra McNaughton leads BYU offensively with a .379 batting average, nine home runs, and thirty-four runs batted in; Easton Jones has ten home runs this season. On the pitching side, Nate Gray leads with a five-and-five record while Brayden Marx started last week’s midweek game against Kansas State.

Following Tuesday’s matchup against BYU, Utah Valley will open Western Athletic Conference play Friday at Sacramento State before traveling to Colorado Springs for a two-game series against Air Force.
