Utah Valley University lost 6-3 to Cincinnati in a baseball game held on March 17 at UCCU Ballpark. Hunter Katschke hit his seventh home run of the season for the Wolverines, but it was not enough to overcome the Bearcats.

The game saw Utah Valley’s Garrett Miller pitch the first three innings, allowing only one run and working out of early threats from Cincinnati. The Bearcats took an initial lead with an RBI single by Enzo Infelise. Utah Valley responded in the second inning when Luke Iverson walked and later scored on a wild pitch, giving UVU a brief 1-0 advantage. However, a double play ended their rally.

In the third inning, DJ Massey was hit by a pitch and stole second base before scoring on Chipper Beck’s single to center field. Beck has now reached base safely in 16 consecutive games, trailing only Kaden Carpenter (18 games) and Hamlin (17 games) among his teammates.

Senior Quinn Holt came out of the bullpen for UVU and pitched over two innings without allowing a hit, recording three strikeouts. Despite this effort, Cincinnati regained control in the seventh inning with four runs highlighted by Jack Natili’s double and Ryan Tyranski’s home run.

Katschke entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh and delivered his team-leading seventh home run of the season—his 31st career homer—which brought Utah Valley within two runs. However, Cincinnati added another late run to secure their victory.

Looking ahead, Utah Valley will travel for a four-game series at Stanford starting Saturday, March 21.
