Utah Valley University announced on Apr. 15 the addition of forward Lauren Johnson to its women’s basketball roster for the 2026-27 season.
The move is seen as an effort to strengthen the team ahead of next season, bringing in a player with experience at both Utah Tech and Utah State. Head coach Dan Nielson said, “We are thrilled to add Lauren to our program. She brings a great ability to score inside while also stretching the floor with her shooting. Her rebounding will be a huge asset for us next season, too. She is exactly what we want in a player, both on and off the floor. I have no doubt she will thrive in our system!”
Johnson spent two years at Utah Tech in St. George, where she played in 31 games during the 2025-26 season and started 16 times. She averaged 8.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game that year and collected a total of 171 rebounds as a sophomore, placing her ninth all-time in Utah Tech’s record books.
Before joining Utah Tech, Johnson played one season at Utah State, appearing in 19 games with three starts. Originally from Canada, she completed her high school career at Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona, helping lead her team to a region championship with a record of 26-3 and an appearance in the state semifinals.
With this signing, UVU aims to boost its performance for upcoming seasons by adding experienced players who can contribute immediately.
