Two BYU gymnasts receive Big 12 weekly honors after win at Clemson

BYU gymnasts Brynlee Andersen-Broekman and Kylie Eaquinto received two Big 12 weekly honors following their team’s upset victory at No. 14 Clemson, the conference announced on Mar. 17.

The recognition highlights the athletes’ performances as they closed out the regular season. Both gymnasts played key roles in securing all five of BYU’s Big 12 weekly awards this season.

Andersen-Broekman competed on beam and floor during the meet at Clemson, tying her career-high on beam with a score of 9.975, which included a perfect 10.0 from one judge. This score was BYU’s highest individual event mark during the regular season. She also scored a 9.850 on floor, marking her seventh consecutive week achieving at least that score in the event. The Orem, Utah native has now earned three Event Specialist of the Week honors this season and holds nine individual event titles—eight on beam and one on floor.

Eaquinto earned her second Gymnast of the Week honor for her performance at Clemson, where she achieved a career-high all-around score of 39.475. She tied her personal best on vault with a score of 9.900 and set a new career high on beam with a 9.875. Eaquinto took first place in both vault and all-around categories, bringing her total to ten individual event titles for the season.

The conference detailed that Andersen-Broekman was named Event Specialist of the Week in weeks two, seven, and ten, while Eaquinto was recognized as Gymnast of the Week in weeks two and ten.

Looking ahead, both athletes will enter postseason competition having contributed significantly to BYU’s gymnastics achievements this year.
