Representative John Curtis (R-UT) has issued a statement on the anniversary of the October 7th, 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas and other Iranian proxy forces. Reflecting on the tragic events, Curtis remarked on the lasting impact: "One year since the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust, the grief and horror from that day—and the days that followed—remain unimaginable." He expressed his support for Israel, emphasizing their defense and efforts to secure the return of hostages.
Curtis highlighted a need for solutions against Iran's terror network: "We must find a solution that brings them home and dismantles Iran’s terror network and its proxies." He noted Israel's historical challenges with security, recalling his time in Israel in 1978 before peace efforts led by international leaders took effect.
In light of recent actions by Israel to address threats against both Israeli and American citizens, Curtis affirmed U.S. support: "That alone should solidify the United States’ deep and unwavering support."
He concluded with solidarity for those affected by past events: "As we commemorate this heartbreaking day, I want the Jewish people to know I stand with them, always. In their mourning, I mourn. In their peace and prosperity, I share their joy."
