Washington, D.C. - Utah's Congressional Delegation, including Senators Mike Lee and Mitt Romney, and Representatives John Curtis, Blake Moore, Burgess Owens, and Celeste Maloy, have partnered with the Department of State to announce five "Passport Fairs" throughout the state. These fairs aim to provide Utahns with easier access to passport services and expedited processing.
"Utah is rapidly expanding as a center for global commerce and tourism, is home to thousands of Latter-day Saints who annually embark on worldwide religious missions, and has a fast-growing population. These factors have created a high demand for passport services in our state, but unfortunately, Utahns must travel long distances to reach the nearest passport office," said the delegation in a joint statement.
While the ultimate goal is to bring a passport agency to Salt Lake City, this initiative will allow Utahns to obtain expedited passport services closer to home. The passport fairs will take place from February 13-17 at five different locations across the state.
The locations and dates for the passport fairs are as follows:
- Tuesday, February 13: Weber State University, Community Outreach Center, Ogden, UT
- Wednesday, February 14: Salt Lake Community College, Jordan Campus, West Jordan, UT
- Thursday, February 15: Utah Valley University, Young Alumni Center, Orem, UT
- Friday, February 16: Bennett Federal Building, Salt Lake City, UT
- Saturday, February 17: Kiln Building, Lehi, UT
To apply for a passport or renew an existing one, applicants must bring the following documents to their appointment:
- A completed passport application for each applicant
- Evidence of U.S. Citizenship
- A recent passport photo (2" x 2") without glasses
- Valid photo identification and a clear, single-sided copy of the front and back of the ID
- Payment of passport fees (check or money order)
Minors under the age of 16 must appear in person with their parent or guardian, and minors aged 16 and 17 must also appear in person.
Utahns interested in attending one of the passport fairs can find more information and schedule an appointment by visiting the respective links provided for each location.
This initiative will make it more convenient for Utahns to obtain passports, whether for personal or professional purposes. By bringing these services closer to home, the Utah Congressional Delegation aims to meet the growing demand for passport services in the state and support the state's expanding global connections.
