Cost of college went up for all students at Brigham Young University-Provo

Tuition and fees rose 2.9 percent for 2018-19 at Brigham Young University-Provo, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Utah students paid $5,620 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $160 more than the $5,460 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 69 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,567 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13 million and 636 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.2 million.

Including all undergraduates (34,499), 22,773 students used grants or scholarships totaling $159.3 million, and 4,615 students took out $26.5 million in federal student loans.
