Utah Valley lost both games of a Sunday doubleheader to Stanford University on March 22, with the Cardinal taking the first game 17-10 and winning the second matchup 15-9. Both teams now have identical records of 10-12.

The results mark a setback for Utah Valley as it continues its season, while Stanford’s victories evened up their record. High offensive output characterized both contests, with multiple home runs and rallies from each side.

In the opening game, Mason Strong and Kaden Carpenter hit home runs for Utah Valley. The Wolverines jumped out to an early lead after Carpenter walked and Strong hit his third home run of the season. The team extended its advantage in the second inning with a bases-clearing homer by Carpenter, making it 6-0. However, Stanford responded quickly, scoring twelve runs across the third and fourth innings to seize control of the game.

The nightcap saw Stanford build a quick 9-0 lead before Utah Valley answered with four runs in the third inning. Hunter Katschke contributed offensively throughout both games, including a key double in Game Two that cut into Stanford’s lead. DJ Massey recorded two hits during the second contest and notched his third multi-hit game of the season.

The series between Utah Valley and Stanford will conclude on Monday, March 23 at 1:05 p.m., broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Afterward, Utah Valley is scheduled to return home for a three-game series against Cal State San Bernardino.
