Former Timpview High School standout Emma Openshaw’s current team, the Southern Virginia Knights, was defeated 82-47 by the Denison Big Red in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 6.
Their 7:30 p.m. contest at Livingston Gymnasium marked their first meeting with the Denison Big Red in tournament play.
Maria Jose ‘MJ’ Barragan ended day one of the NCAA Louisville Regional tied for sixth place after shooting three-under par with three birdies. Head coach Carrie Roberts credited recent adjustments in Barragan’s technique for her strong performance.
BYU women’s basketball has signed Australian player Prasayus Notoa for its 2026-27 roster. Head coach Lee Cummard praised her versatility on both ends of the court while Notoa expressed excitement about joining BYU.
Kihei Akina has been named Big 12 Freshman of the Year while Simon Kwon earned Second Team honors in men’s golf. Both players’ performances were recognized by conference officials following strong seasons.
