Paje Rasmussen recorded the second-fastest 200-meter time in school history at the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational, held March 28 at Allyson Felix Field in Los Angeles. Marianne Barber, Zoey Bonds, and Mayci Taylor also achieved top-10 marks for their program during Saturday’s events.
Rasmussen won the 200 meters with a time of 23.11 seconds, finishing just one hundredth of a second behind Jaslyn Gardner’s school record set in 2024. This performance marked Rasmussen’s third appearance on the outdoor top-10 list and her second consecutive meet achieving this distinction. She also holds the indoor track program record for the event after running a 22.91 at the Big 12 Championships earlier this year.
Barber finished third in the women’s 400 meters with a time of 53.51 seconds, earning her sixth place on BYU’s all-time list for that event. In the women’s 400-meter hurdles, Taylor posted a personal best of 58.04 seconds to secure eighth place on BYU’s all-time list and win her race by more than one second over other competitors.
Zoey Bonds earned seventh place on BYU’s all-time list in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with her finish of 13.46 seconds, improving upon her previous best by six hundredths of a second.
In field events, Alysa Keller led Saturday’s throwing competitions by winning the javelin with a throw measuring just over fifty meters (50.38m/165-3). Sarena Mackley, Tia Brown, and Zoey Bonds placed fifth through seventh respectively in that same event.
Other notable performances included Cailee Faulkner winning pole vault with a clearance of four-point-one-two meters (4.12m/13-6.25), while Abbie Scott cleared four-point-zero-two meters (4.02m/13-2.25). The team relay squad consisting of Cambria Hasler, Mikensi Smith, Taylor and Madelynne Taggart finished runner-up in the women’s four-by-four-hundred meter relay with a time of three minutes forty-four point zero-three seconds (3:44.03).
Mae Johnson matched her outdoor-best high jump mark to take third as only freshman competing among upperclassmen athletes.
Looking ahead to next weekend’s competitions, BYU will send sprints and multi-event athletes to Texas Relays from April first through fourth; throws, jumps and pole vault competitors to Bobcat Invitational from April second through fourth; while distance runners will compete at Stanford Invitational on April third.
