During the first quarter of 2026, Provo Rehabilitation and Nursing operated as the largest nursing home in Utah County, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

The facility offered 220 beds, outpacing the Utah County average by 136 beds in the first quarter of 2026, and served an average of 132.1 residents during that time.

CMS gave Provo Rehabilitation and Nursing an overall rating of 3 out of 5, trailing the statewide nursing home average rating of 3.4 in Utah.

Orem Rehabilitation and Nursing Center ranked as the second largest in Utah County for the quarter, with 120 beds. Stonehenge of American Fork was third, offering 119 beds.

By the end of Q1 2026, Provo Rehabilitation and Nursing incurred $55,146 in fines and received one penalty.

Utah County, Utah, had 11 for-profit nursing homes during this period.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates highlight ongoing national demographic shifts, with the older adult population expanding while younger age groups decline. From 2020 to 2024, the U.S. population of adults 65 and over grew by 13%, and the segment under age 18 dropped by 1.7%. The nation’s older sector has risen significantly over the past 100 years, from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million as of 2024.

A report issued in 2021 found that nearly half of adults in this group—about 28 million people—could require long-term services and supports. It also predicts that more than a third may eventually depend on nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
