Paxton Maxwell led the Utah Valley University men’s golf team on April 14 with a top-20 finish at the Arkansas State Spring Invitational, held at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Utah Valley placed ninth out of eleven teams, finishing with a three-round total of 31-over-par 895. The event provided an opportunity for the Wolverines to compete against a strong field and prepare for upcoming championship play.

Maxwell tied for 16th individually after carding rounds of 72, 74, and 72 for a total score of two-over-par 218. Ty Brady followed closely behind, tying for 19th place with a four-over-par score of 220 (74-70-76). Colby Hutchens tied for 28th at seven-over-par (223), while Andrew Hawk and Elliot Bond finished tied for 59th and in 67th place respectively. Isaiah Ellis competed as an individual and tied for 40th with a twelve-over-par score of 228.

Arkansas State won the team title by posting a collective twenty-five-under-par total of 839. Thomas Schmidt from Arkansas State earned medalist honors with his six-under-par performance over three rounds.

The Wolverines will next participate in the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship scheduled from April 27 to April 29 at The Dye Course at Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
