Maddie Passmore matched the school record in the triple jump to lead Utah Valley University at the UVU Collegiate Invitational on March 26, held at Hal Wing Track & Field.
Passmore’s achievement highlights her continued success, as she equaled teammate Olivia Pixton’s outdoor school record of 12.26 meters with her third leap. She now holds or shares both the indoor and outdoor triple jump records for Utah Valley. In addition to her performance in the triple jump, Passmore moved into second place all-time for Utah Valley in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.98 meters.
Utah Valley’s men’s throwers also had strong performances. Eddie Garcia improved his standing at No. 4 all-time with a personal best of 57.12 meters in the hammer throw, while Andrew Turner moved up to fifth with a top mark of 55.75 meters. On the women’s side, Cale Stinebaugh entered Utah Valley’s top ten shot put list with a new best of 13.27 meters.
Sprinters benefited from favorable wind conditions during their events. Kade Thompson set a new personal record in the 100-meter dash and moved up to third all-time for Utah Valley with a time of 10.20 seconds; Gavin Stafford followed closely behind at fourth all-time (10.24), and Garrett Nelson entered ninth (10.49). Eme Stout joined Utah Valley’s women’s top ten at fifth place after running an 11.74-second personal best.
Relay teams and hurdlers also saw improvements: Thompson, Stafford, Nelson, and Collin Petersen posted seventh-best all-time marks for Utah Valley in the men’s 4×100 relay (39.90 seconds), while James Duncan improved his position from tenth to third all-time in the men’s outdoor season debut for the 110-meter hurdles (14.19 seconds).
Distance runners Sila Kiplagat and Jayden Fitzgarrald impressed as well—Kiplagat won the men’s 800-meter event with a converted time of 1:49.79 (fourth all-time), while Fitzgarrald finished third overall (1:50.59) to move into fifth place on Utah Valley’s records list.
In field events, Grace Degarimore won both women’s shot put (14.64m) and discus throw (47.52m). Stinebaugh took third place in discus with a top throw just short of her previous personal best set last week; Trevor Hill won men’s shot put with his season-best mark of 16.81 meters.
The meet concluded with another win for Utah Valley as Max Clemons, Duncan, Petersen, and Caidan Cooper secured first place in men’s 4×400 relay by finishing in three minutes eighteen point thirty-two seconds.
Looking ahead, Utah Valley will send athletes to three meets during early April—the UNLV Rebel ELITE meet in Las Vegas along with competitions at Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic held across Northern California.
