The No. 7 BYU men’s volleyball team lost to No. 18 Stanford in four sets (25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 30-28) at Maples Pavilion on March 13.

The match was significant for both teams as it affected their standings in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and showcased strong performances from several players. The Cougars now hold a record of 15 wins and five losses this season, with a conference record of two wins and one loss.

AJ Cottle had a standout performance for BYU, recording a career-high 15 kills on just 17 attempts with an impressive .882 hitting percentage. Teilon-Jonathan Tufuga contributed with 14 kills and two aces, while Tyler Herget added his second-highest assist total of the season with 46 assists. Trevor Herget also set a personal best with ten digs.

Despite these individual efforts, BYU struggled offensively compared to its usual standards, finishing the match with a .265 hitting percentage—below its season average—and only six blocks against Stanford’s ten.
