The No. 57 BYU men’s tennis team will return home to face No. 17 Arizona on Thursday, March 11, at 4:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, according to a university announcement. This match marks the Cougars’ first appearance on their outdoor courts this season and is Arizona’s first visit to Provo in over 25 years.

The event is significant as it opens Big 12 conference play for BYU and brings together two teams with strong records so far this year. The Cougars enter the match with a 12–2 overall record after finishing second at the Boise State Spring Invitational, where they lost in the final round to Boise State.

BYU has shown strength in singles matches this season, achieving a combined record of 50–25. Notable individual performances include freshman Caden Hasler at 7–1, sophomore Hardy Owen at 6–1, and junior Tygen Goldammer at 12–1 following his recent loss during an Idaho road trip that ended his undefeated streak. In doubles play, BYU has experimented with eight different pairings; TJ Wells and Goldammer have been the most successful duo with a record of 9–2.

This year marks BYU’s third season competing in the Big 12 Conference. Over the previous two seasons, the Cougars have posted a combined conference record of just one win against fourteen losses. Currently, five teams from the Big 12 are ranked among the top twenty nationally.

Arizona arrives in Provo holding an impressive 11–3 record and riding a six-match winning streak. The Wildcats have secured three victories over top-25 programs this season and suffered two losses against other top-25 opponents; their most recent defeat was against No. 10 San Diego on February 1.

Historically, Arizona leads the series against BYU with nineteen wins to seven losses and has won each of their last four meetings (2025, 2010, 2008, and 2004). The teams have only played once in the past fifteen years; BYU’s last victory came in their matchup in 2003.

Live scoring for Thursday’s match will be available online, while livestream details are expected to be posted earlier that day.
