The No. 53 Brigham Young University (BYU) men’s tennis team will travel to Orlando to play against the No. 12 Central Florida Knights at the USTA National Campus at 4 p.m. Mountain Time on Thursday, March 18.

This match is significant as BYU looks to secure its first consecutive wins over Big 12 opponents in program history, having already surpassed last season’s record with a current standing of 13–3 and six matches remaining.

The Cougars have performed well on the road this season with a 6–2 record but recently lost their last two away matches against Air Force and Boise State. Key singles players Tygen Goldammer, David Duong, Caden Hasler, and Hardy Owen have contributed to a combined singles record of 34–6 for BYU.

Last year, BYU achieved its highest-ranked win in a quarter-century by defeating then-No. 11 Central Florida for its first Big 12 victory, evening the all-time series between the teams at one win each. The Knights previously beat BYU in their inaugural Big 12 meeting in 2024 with a close comeback victory.

Central Florida enters the match with a strong season record of 15–2 and is currently on a six-match winning streak, including victories over four top-30 teams. Their only losses came against top-20 opponents, most recently falling to LSU at a neutral site in Texas. The Knights feature two nationally ranked singles players: senior Yassine Dlimi (No. 71) and junior Wissam Abderrahman (No. 83), both holding impressive individual records this season.

At No. 12 nationally, Central Florida is currently the third-highest ranked team in the Big 12 Conference behind TCU and Baylor—both upcoming opponents for BYU next month. Live scoring and streaming will be available for fans following Thursday’s match.
