The No. 36 BYU women’s tennis team defeated No. 73 Kansas State with a decisive 4-0 victory on Mar. 26 at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts in Provo.
The win marks the Cougars’ sixteenth of the season and keeps their undefeated record at home intact as they continue their campaign in Big 12 play.
BYU started strong in doubles, with Gracie Levelston and Kendall Kovick reuniting for their first dual match together this season after reaching the NCAA Doubles Championship round of sixteen last fall—the program’s deepest run since 1993. Levelston recorded three consecutive aces during a key stretch to help secure a 6-4 win for the pair on Court 1. Bella Lewis and Sue Yan Tan added a close-fought victory on Court 3, winning their set by a score of 7-5 to clinch the doubles point for BYU.
In singles competition, Levelston continued her form with a dominant performance on Court 1, winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Kovick followed suit with another straight-set win on Court 2, while Sage Bergeson sealed the overall match for BYU by claiming her contest on Court 5 (6-2, 6-2). With these results securing an insurmountable lead for BYU, all remaining singles matches were left unfinished.
Looking ahead, BYU will host No. 25 Oklahoma State at home this Saturday at the Outdoor Tennis Courts starting at eleven o’clock in the morning Mountain Daylight Time.
