The No. 10 BYU men’s volleyball team will return to the Smith Fieldhouse this weekend for two matches against Concordia University Irvine, according to a March 18 announcement.

This homecoming follows a six-match road trip, marking the Cougars’ first games at home since February 21. The team has performed strongly at home this season with an 8-2 record, compared to a 6-4 record on the road.

Senior outside hitter Trent Moser continues to lead BYU offensively, averaging 3.45 kills per set and maintaining a .342 hitting percentage. Moser recently achieved a career-high of 22 kills in a five-set loss to Stanford last Saturday. Senior setter Tyler Herget is also making significant contributions, averaging 10.29 assists per set, which ranks second in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) and fifth nationally.

The Cougars have relied on depth throughout the season, with twelve players having played at least twenty-five sets each. This depth has helped compensate for injuries and provided various offensive and defensive options. Defensively, BYU is ranked tenth in the NCAA for blocks per set at 2.390, with Gavin Chambers leading individually at 1.091 blocks per set and seventy-two total blocks this season—twelfth best in the nation.

Head coach Shawn Olmstead recently reached his two-hundredth win with BYU men’s volleyball and is now three wins away from matching Carl McGowan for most wins as head coach in program history.

Concordia University Irvine enters the series with a record of five wins and twelve losses this season but holds notable victories over Princeton and Menlo College. The Eagles are led by Christian Galoppo and Logan Whitaker offensively, while Paul Schulteis leads in aces with twenty-two.

BYU currently holds a thirteen-match winning streak against Concordia-Irvine and leads their all-time series fourteen to two. Both matches will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus and available on-demand after 10 p.m. Mountain Time via BYUtv.org and the BYUtv App.
