Utah Valley University reports that nine former Wolverines are currently playing professional baseball during the 2026 season, with one athlete in Major League Baseball, two advancing through the minor leagues, and several others competing in independent leagues.
Paxton Schultz is pitching for the Washington Nationals and has spent most of the 2026 season with the team. He holds a record of 0–2 with a 5.49 earned run average over 19 and two-thirds innings, striking out 22 batters. Schultz made six outings of at least one inning each in May without allowing an earned run. His longest appearance came against the San Francisco Giants when he pitched three innings from the bullpen.
Casey Anderson is in his first full season as a relief pitcher for Double-A Amarillo Sod Poodles (Arizona). Anderson has recorded a 3–1 record with a 4.62 ERA and two saves across 25 and one-third innings, tallying 29 strikeouts. In his latest outing against Midland, he reached a velocity of 99 miles per hour to earn his second save.
Other alumni include Mitch Mueller, who was promoted directly from Single-A Fort Myers Mighty Mussels to Wichita (Minnesota), where he debuted by recording his first strikeout before weather suspended play. Patrick Mills has homered in half of his appearances for Billings Mustangs this Pioneer League season while batting .370; Garrett Broussard tied a Frontier League record by going six-for-six at bat for Florence Y’alls; Cole Jordan started strong for Ogden Raptors with five home runs and a .413 average through twelve games; Calyn Halvorson hit .250 over ten games for Lincoln Saltdogs; CJ Colyer struck out twelve hitters across five bullpen appearances for Billings Mustangs; Chance Wallace became the first member of UVU’s current roster to sign professionally this year and debuted on May 27 with Ogden Raptors.
The university notes that more alumni may sign professional contracts later this summer.
