Jefferson McMullin and Carter Cutting won their respective events at the UVU Outdoor Invitational in Orem, Utah, on March 26. McMullin finished first in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:10.46, while Cutting took first place in the men’s 1500-meter race with a time of 3:46.53.
The results mark the first appearance this season for the Cougars in the steeplechase event. Garrett Stanford finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:14.43, followed by Max Davis who took third at 9:16.38. Jackson Henstrom also competed and placed sixth.
In the men’s 1500-meter race, Isaac Hedengren finished second with a time of 3:50.48, and Hunter Kitchen secured third place by crossing the line at 3:55.51. Other competitors included Noah Jenkins, who placed eighth, and Land Lambert, who came ninth.
The invitational showcased strong performances from BYU athletes across both events as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
Next up for BYU are competitions in throws, sprints, jumps, and hurdles at the USC Ron and Sharlene Alice Trojan Invitational from March 27 to March 28. Streaming coverage will be available on Big Ten Plus.
