Utah Valley defeated Cal State San Bernardino, 15-3, on March 29 at UCCU Ballpark in Orem. Mason Strong led the Wolverines with a grand slam and six runs batted in, helping his team secure the victory.
The game highlights a strong offensive performance by Utah Valley, which had four players record multiple hits and matched its season high for runs scored for the second consecutive game. The win brings Utah Valley’s record to 12-14.
Strong went two-for-two at the plate and drove in six runs, including his grand slam in the third inning. This marks the first time since 2024 that a Wolverine has collected six RBIs in a single game. Hunter Katschke also contributed with his ninth home run of the season, while Jimmy De Anda hit his first home run of the year as part of his first multi-hit game this season. Kaden Carpenter drew three walks—tying a career high—and scored four times.
On the mound, George Albrecht made his first career start for Utah Valley and set personal bests with three innings pitched and three strikeouts. Aaron Rice followed out of the bullpen with two scoreless innings on just eight pitches in one frame.
Cal State San Bernardino was led by Alejandro McKay with two RBIs but could not overcome Utah Valley’s early lead. The Wolverines extended their advantage throughout the game, including scoring nine runs across just two innings.
Utah Valley will conclude its homestand against Utah on Tuesday, March 31 at UCCU Ballpark. The upcoming matchup will be broadcast on ESPN+ as well as local radio.
