Martí Llop places 15th in platform finals at NCAA Zone E Championship

BYU sophomore Martí Llop competed in the final round of the platform event at the NCAA Zone E Championship on March 10, earning a 15th-place finish. Llop was the only BYU athlete to reach the finals on the second day of competition in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The performance highlights BYU’s representation at a major collegiate diving event. Reaching the finals is considered an important achievement for athletes and their programs, as it reflects both individual skill and team progress.

In preliminary rounds, Llop scored 297.00 points to place 18th before advancing to finals. He improved his score in the final round with a total of 322.90 points, securing his position among the top competitors. Freshman Ashton Sparks also participated in the men’s platform prelims, finishing with a score of 243.95 and placing 27th.

On the women’s side, freshman Brooklyn Goeckeritz competed in Tuesday’s 3-meter event preliminaries and finished with a score of 216.45, earning her a spot at 42nd place.

The championship continues as BYU divers prepare for the third and final day of competition. The men will compete in the one-meter event while women will take part in platform diving.
