Caren Kipsirat set a new school record in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase as Utah Valley University track and field athletes competed at the ULV Leopard Invitational, Bryan Clay Invite, and Mt. SAC Relays during the weekend of April 18.
Kipsirat finished with a time of 10:15.28 at the Bryan Clay Invite, surpassing Oakley Olsen’s previous mark by three seconds. Her performance placed her sixth overall in the event, ranks among the top 40 nationally, and leads the Western Athletic Conference by more than half a minute. Kaitelyn Emmons also posted a personal best of 10:42.04 to move up to eighth all-time for Utah Valley.
In other distance events, Morgan Nokes made her season debut in the women’s 5000 meters with a time of 15:31.20, now leading this year’s WAC performances. On the men’s side, Sila Kiplagat ran a personal best of 13:49.23 while Jayden Fitzgarrald improved his time to 13:54.22; both now hold second- and third-best times in school history for that event.
Reagan Doman debuted for Utah Valley in the women’s 10k with a mark of 33:24.35—the fifth-fastest ever at UVU and second-best this year within their conference behind only Nokes.
Field events saw Grace Degarimore improve her shot put best by over one meter to reach 15.78 meters—now just short of Helena Engman’s long-standing program record from 1999—and Cale Stinebaugh increase her discus throw from 44.97m to a new personal best of 46.06m.
Jennaveve Bingham moved up UVU’s all-time list in the women’s 800 meters after running a personal best of 2:08.06, now ranking third overall for that event at Utah Valley.
The men’s relay team concluded competition by recording their fastest season time so far—a mark of 39.54 seconds in the men’s four-by-100 meter relay—which stands as sixth-best all-time for UVU and places them among this season’s national top forty teams.
Utah Valley will take next week off before finishing its regular season schedule at both the Robison Invitational in Provo and SUU Coliseum Championships.
