Jane Hedengren was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women’s Athlete of the Week for the fourth time in her career, according to an April 6 announcement by the organization.
The recognition follows Hedengren’s performance at the Stanford Invitational, where she set a new NCAA record in the women’s 10,000-meter race. She surpassed Florida runner Parker Valby’s previous mark by nearly four seconds and finished more than three seconds ahead of reigning NCAA champion Pamela Kosgei from New Mexico. The result also places Hedengren’s time as the seventh-fastest ever recorded by an American in this event.
Hedengren, a freshman from Provo, Utah, is now one of only two Brigham Young University (BYU) women to receive an outdoor USTFCCCA weekly honor. She joins Lexy Halladay-Lowry, who earned this distinction during the 2025 season. Since its inception in 2015, no other BYU women’s athlete has received as many USTFCCCA honors as Hedengren—she has now been recognized twice during track and field season and four times overall when including cross country.
This achievement highlights both her individual accomplishments and continued success for BYU athletes on a national stage.
