Colby Hutchens led the Utah Valley University men’s golf team with a score of 1-over-par 73 during the opening round of the 2026 Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the Dye Course at the Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas, according to an April 27 announcement.
Utah Valley finished the first round tied for fifth place among seven teams after posting a total score of 15-over-par 303. The Wolverines are even with Southern Utah and trail California Baptist by one stroke. UT Arlington currently leads the tournament with a team score of 4-over-par 292, followed by Abilene Christian at 7-over and Tarleton State at 10-over.
Individually, Hutchens is tied for fourth place after his opening round and is five shots behind Arth Sinha from UT Arlington, who posted a leading score of four-under-par 68. Ty Brady recorded a three-over-par 75 to tie for tenth place. Isaiah Ellis finished with a four-over-par 76 and is tied for seventeenth. Andrew Hawk ended his round seven over par to tie for twenty-seventh, while Paxton Maxwell is tied for twenty-ninth after shooting eight over par.
The second round will begin Tuesday morning, with scheduled tee times (Central Time) as follows: Maxwell at 8:50 a.m., Hawk at 9:00 a.m., Ellis at 9:10 a.m., Brady at 9:20 a.m., and Hutchens at 9:30 a.m.
