Colby Hutchens and Isaiah Ellis led the Utah Valley University men’s golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship, which concluded on April 29 at the Dye Course at the Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.

The event marked the end of the 2025-26 season for Utah Valley. The team’s performance placed them ahead of other in-state programs, with Tarleton State taking first place among seven teams.

Hutchens tied for sixth individually with a score of 2-over-par 218 after rounds of 73, 69, and 76. Ellis finished tied for ninth at 5-over-par 221. Ty Brady posted Utah Valley’s best round on Wednesday with a score of two-under-par 70, finishing tied for eleventh overall. Paxton Maxwell ended in a tie for twenty-first place, while Andrew Hawk finished twenty-ninth.

UT Arlington’s Arth Sinha won individual medalist honors with a total score of seven-under-par.

“We’re a really young group, and this week was another step forward for us,” said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. “To have multiple guys in the top 10 and see the way we competed down the stretch says a lot about where we’re headed. The future is bright for this program as we get ready to move into the Big West Conference.”
