Colby Hutchens and Ty Brady led the Utah Valley University men’s golf team on Mar. 31 after the opening day of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. Both players finished tied for 24th place at 2-under-par as play was suspended due to darkness during the second round.

The tournament saw Utah Valley tied for 15th place at 2-over-par following a strong start with a team score of 4-under-par in the first round. The Wolverines were six over par through fourteen holes in their second round when play was halted.

Hutchens recorded a three-under-par score of 69 in his opening round and remained two under through fourteen holes in the unfinished second round. Brady matched Hutchens with an identical three-under-par opening round and is also two under partway through his second set of holes.

Paxton Maxwell and Andrew Hawk both ended the day tied for seventy-seventh at three over par, each carding one-over rounds of seventy-three before moving to two over par during their incomplete second rounds. Elliot Bond stands thirteen over par after fourteen holes into his second round.

Southern California leads all teams at twenty-two under par, while Arkansas State and Grand Canyon are tied for second position at nineteen under. The Wolverines will resume their suspended second round Tuesday morning before beginning their final eighteen-hole session.
