Logan Hubler and Hayden Gribble took first place in their respective events during a pair of in-state track and field meets, according to an April 11 announcement. Hubler won the 400-meter hurdles at the Weber State Spring Open, while Gribble secured first place in the high jump at the Utah Spring Classic held on Friday and Saturday.

The results highlight strong performances by Brigham Young University athletes as they prepare for upcoming competitions. Successes at these meets demonstrate the depth of talent within the team.

At the Weber State Spring Open in Ogden, Gribble recorded a winning high jump mark of 2.06 meters (6-9). He was followed closely by teammate Connor Saunders, who finished second with a mark of 2.01 meters (6-7.25). In other field events, Erik Bryant set a personal record in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.71 meters (172-11.25), finishing fourth overall. Bryant also competed in discus alongside Tyler Poole; Bryant placed tenth with a throw of 46.03 meters (151-0), while Poole took fifth with a mark of 49.52 meters (162-5.5).

On the track, Ty Oustrich finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.23 seconds, just ahead of Hubler who came fourth at 48.26 seconds.

At Saturday’s Utah Spring Classic in Salt Lake City, Hubler claimed victory in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.70 seconds; he currently holds BYU’s seventh-fastest all-time mark for this event at 50.33 seconds from last season.

Gribble also competed again on Saturday, placing third overall in javelin after his high jump win by throwing for a distance of 57.50 meters (188-7).

Looking ahead, BYU is scheduled to compete next week at two California meets: The Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16 to April 18 at Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa and the Pacific Coast Invitational on April 16 at Jack Rose Track in Long Beach.
