Four Utah Valley University wrestlers remain in contention at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships after a series of wins on March 19. Jack Forbes and Caleb Uhlenhopp each secured upset victories to avoid elimination, while Haiden Drury also won a must-win match. David Evans continues in the tournament after splitting his matches on the opening day.

The progress of these athletes is significant for Utah Valley’s wrestling program, as four out of five competitors have advanced to the second day of competition. Their performances highlight both individual determination and team resilience at a national event.

“Our guys battled today! I’m proud of our effort,” said head coach Adam Hall. “We faced some adversity and persevered through it. We had four out of five advance to day two. I’m excited for Haiden, Dave, Caleb, and Jack to continue on their journey to become an All-American tomorrow. Go Wolverines!”

Forbes recorded two notable wins during the second session, including pinning his first opponent in just 23 seconds—the fastest pin by a Wolverine this season—and earning a major decision over No. 19 Nate Schon from Drexel. Uhlenhopp defeated No. 17 Ian Bush from West Virginia with a sudden victory takedown after earlier falling to top-seeded Rocco Welsh from Penn State.

Drury rebounded from an earlier loss by defeating Princeton’s Matthew Martino, securing his place in the next round with strong defense late in the match. Evans opened with an 11-5 win over Andrew Clark from Rutgers but was later defeated by Oklahoma State’s Casey Swiderski in a match that included multiple coaches’ reviews.

Kael Bennie saw his tournament run end after losing to Brown’s Andrew Reall, finishing his redshirt sophomore season with a record of 15-18.

The championships continue Friday with Session 3 beginning at noon Eastern Time.
