Kaiah Fisher achieved the fourth-best discus throw in program history and Mikensi Smith won two events at the Weber State and Utah Spring Classics, according to an April 11 announcement.
The results highlight notable performances for the team, with athletes achieving personal milestones and strong finishes across multiple events.
At the Weber State Spring Classic, Fisher moved up one spot on her program’s all-time discus board with a throw of 55.09 meters (180-9), which was more than 17 meters ahead of her nearest competitor. Jayda Lee finished sixth in the same event, matching her best finish this season. Lia Katoa also recorded a win for the throws group by launching a throw of 57.34 meters (188-1.5), winning by over 14 meters and securing her second victory in that event this year.
Smith secured first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.10 seconds, marking her first collegiate victory. Lee placed third, while Kat Beachler set a new personal best with a throw of 51.43 meters (168-8.5) to take fourth place.
At the Utah Spring Classic, Smith added another win by finishing first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.88 seconds—nearly one second ahead of other competitors. Madelynne Taggart took sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:03.29.
Looking ahead, distance runners will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16 to April 18, while athletes specializing in jumps, hurdles and throws are scheduled to participate at the Pacific Coast Invitational.
