BYU guard Delaney Gibb has been named to the Big 12 Starting Five for the second week in a row, according to an announcement from the conference on Monday. This is Gibb’s third time receiving the honor during this season.
Gibb, a sophomore, contributed significantly to BYU’s recent victories with consecutive 20-point games and an average of 18.5 points in the fourth quarter over the past week. She averaged 25 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game during this period.
The Cougars secured wins against Arizona State and Colorado, finishing ninth in the Big 12—marking their highest placement since joining the league in 2023. In BYU’s win over Arizona State, Gibb recorded a game-high 24 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. She also added two blocks and two second-half steals as BYU came back to win against the Sun Devils.
Against Colorado, Gibb again led all scorers with 26 points while providing seven assists and six rebounds—three of which were offensive—plus a steal and a block.
Her recent performances mark her third and fourth consecutive games scoring at least 20 points. Over these four games, she is averaging nearly 27 points per contest along with notable contributions in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks while making three three-pointers per game.
Gibb has been particularly effective late in games, averaging almost 20 points in the second half of her last four appearances. Against Arizona State, she scored 18 of her total after halftime to help overcome a double-digit deficit; versus Colorado she closed out with another strong second half performance that helped secure victory.
Next up for Gibb and No. 9-seed BYU is a matchup against No.16 Houston in Kansas City for the opening round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 4 at 12:30 p.m MT. The game will be available via ESPN+ streaming as well as BYU Radio broadcasts.
