The Cougars are set to compete at the UVU Invitational at Hal Wing Track and Field on March 26.
The event is significant as it marks an early outdoor season test for the team, bringing together athletes from several colleges in the region. The meet will feature competitors from Utah Valley, Snow College, Utah State, Westminster, Southern Utah, Idaho State, Weber State and Northwest Nazarene alongside BYU.
Mark Bryant will lead the men’s throws group after winning the discus at his first collegiate appearance during the Utah Tech invitational less than a week ago with a throw of 52.22 meters (171-4). He is also scheduled to make his collegiate debut in the hammer throw where he will compete with his brother Erik Bryant and teammate Tyler Poole.
Carter Cutting returns to action in the 1500-meter race for his first outdoor appearance of 2026 following his national championship win in the indoor mile two weeks prior. Cutting will be joined by all-american Isaac Hedengren as well as Caleb Johnson, Luke Grundvig, Noah Jenkins, Hunter Kitchen, Land Lambert, Dalton Mortensen and Jacob Stanford.
In addition to these events, Jackson Henstrom, Jefferson McMullin, Max Davis, Kitchen and Garrett Stanford are slated to participate in the season’s first 3000-meter steeplechase for BYU. Brayden Packard and Jacob Robison are expected to represent BYU in the 800-meter event for middle distance races.
The meet provides an opportunity for athletes across disciplines—throws, middle distance and long distance—to open their spring campaigns against strong regional competition.
