Colby Hutchens moves to second as Utah Valley holds fifth at WAC Championship

Colby Hutchens moved into a tie for second place after shooting a 3-under-par 69 on April 28, leading the Utah Valley University men’s golf team during the second round of the 2026 Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship in McKinney, Texas.

The team’s performance keeps Utah Valley in fifth place overall at 21-over-par 597 after two rounds. The Wolverines are two strokes behind California Baptist, which is currently fourth. Tarleton State leads with a score of 10-over-par 586, followed by UT Arlington and Abilene Christian.

Hutchens began his round with three consecutive birdies and finished with a total score of 2-under-par 142 over two days. He is five shots behind individual leader Arth Sinha from UT Arlington, who stands at 7-under-par 137.

Isaiah Ellis also contributed for Utah Valley by carding a round of one-under-par (71), moving him into eighth place individually at three-over-par for the tournament. Ty Brady sits tied for twenty-first at eight-over, Paxton Maxwell is tied for twenty-eighth at thirteen-over, and Andrew Hawk rounds out the lineup in thirtieth position at fourteen-over.

The final round will begin Wednesday morning with tee times starting at 8:50 a.m. Central Time for Andrew Hawk and continuing every ten minutes through Colby Hutchens’ start time at 9:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available online.
