Chloe Jang set a new Utah Valley women’s golf program record by shooting a 6-under-par 64 during the second round of the West Texas Classic at Abilene Country Club on Monday. After an opening round of 7-over-par 77, Jang climbed 47 spots on the leaderboard to finish the day tied for fourth out of 88 players with a two-round total of 1-over-par 141 (77-64).

Jang’s performance broke the previous school record for lowest single round, which was a 5-under-par 67 set by Carly Dehlin Hirsch in April 2018 at the Bobcat Spring Invitational. Her round included seven birdies and is currently the lowest score posted in this year’s tournament as it heads into Tuesday’s final round. Jang is one stroke behind a three-way tie for first place.

Other Utah Valley players include Rylie Rodriguez and Valentina Zuleta, both tied for 47th after recording scores of 12-over-par 152 over two rounds. Maria Ortiz is tied for 52nd at 13-over-par 153, while Mia Pace is tied for 56th with a score of 14-over-par 154.

The Utah Valley team collectively posted a two-round total of 37-over-par 597 (304-293), placing them in a tie for seventh among the sixteen teams competing.

The tournament will conclude with its final round on Tuesday. Live scoring can be accessed on Clippd.
