Utah Valley University had two players named to the Western Athletic Conference’s First Team All-Conference, according to a May 19 announcement. Hunter Katschke was selected at first base and Kaden Carpenter earned an outfield spot.
This recognition marks the fourth consecutive season that Utah Valley has placed two players on the first team. The awards highlight individual achievements within the program and reflect ongoing player development.
“I’m very proud of the accomplishments of these two,” said UVU head coach Nate Rasmussen. “We made many changes within their approaches and mechanics, and both were rewarded for their perseverance through that process. Both came to work every day, and I’m excited about where their future will take them in this game.”
Katschke received his first selection to the All-Conference first team after earning second team honors at Utah Tech last season. He finished this year with a .291 batting average, a school record 22 home runs, 55 RBIs, and a .704 slugging percentage. He also recorded four multi-homer games during the season, including in his debut for UVU against Pacific.
Carpenter earned first-team honors in his one season at Orem by hitting .338 over 54 games with 17 home runs. He homered in five straight games late in the season while adding 58 RBIs overall. Against conference pitching, he batted .313 with eight home runs and 16 RBIs.
He was recognized as WAC Hitter of the Week once this year following his performance against UC Riverside in late February.
During its time in the Western Athletic Conference, Utah Valley has had eleven first-team selections and eleven second-team selections.
