Brinley Cannon and Lara Rohkohl were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees, the organization announced on Mar. 24.
The recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both in their sport and academically. The CSC Academic All-America program selects basketball honorees across four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
To qualify for the award, student-athletes must be at least sophomores with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and serve as either starters or key reserves for their teams. Honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Finalists will be denoted with an asterisk and advance to national voting by CSC members, with first-, second-, and third-team selections to be announced on April 14.
Rohkohl joined BYU for her final year of college basketball and made an immediate impact by averaging 8.1 points on 63.3 percent shooting, along with 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. She posted double figures in scoring in fourteen games—all resulting in BYU victories—and delivered notable performances against Texas Tech, Iowa State, Utah, Arizona State, Houston, and again Utah during the Big 12 Tournament.
Cannon started all thirty-five games during the season while averaging 7.5 points per game on over forty-three percent shooting from the field and thirty-six percent from three-point range. She was also one of BYU’s top rebounding guards at nearly five rebounds per game while contributing assists and steals regularly throughout the season. Her standout performance came against Utah where she scored a career-high twenty-one points as part of three wins over their rival this season.
Cannon is majoring in Family Life and Human Development with a cumulative GPA of 3.87 through her sophomore year.
